Our stations for Domiciliary treatment

Together with you, we select the most suitable methods from the various areas of physiotherapy. You can choose which physiotherapist you would like to be treated by at our locations in and around Zurich.

What is domiciliary treatment?

Domiciliary physiotherapy, or domiciliary physio for short, is a form of physiotherapy treatment that is carried out in the patient’s familiar surroundings. So that patients with physical or other limitations do not have to make the journey to our Physio Station practices, our therapists visit them in their own homes. This service ensures that even patients who have difficulty leaving their home still have access to high-quality physiotherapycare.

Who is physiotherapy via domiciliary treatment suitable for and who is it not suitable for?

Domiciliary treatment is ideal for people who have difficulties visiting our practice due to limited mobility. Reasons for this can include immobilising pain or illnesses, accidents or operations, or cognitive impairments such as dementia. Older people who live alone and cannot be regularly driven to the practice by someone else can also benefit from our service. However, it is important to note that Domizil Physio is not suitable for all patients. In some cases, it is necessary for the treatment to take place in one of our Physio Station practices, as we have special equipment and facilities available for the application.

How does domiciliary physiotherapy treatment work?

If you decide to take advantage of our domiciliary treatment, we will first arrange an initial appointment with you to get to know and assess your individual needs. We will then create a personalised treatment plan that is perfectly tailored to your health situation and goals. Our physiotherapists bring all the necessary equipment, including treatment materials, to every home visit. They carry out the therapy sessions in your familiar surroundings just as they would in the practice.

Advantages of home treatment

Physiotherapy treatment in your own four walls has many advantages. In particular the following:

  • Comfort: As a patient, you can receive your treatment in the familiar surroundings of your own home.
  • Time saving: You don’t have to spend time travelling to and from one of our practices.
  • Individualised care: Our therapists can tailor the treatment to your specific needs and goals, taking your home environment into account.
  • Better outcomes: Research has shown that patients who are treated at home often achieve better outcomes, as they feel more comfortable in their familiar surroundings and are more willing to adhere to the treatment plan.

Questions and answers

Do you have any questions? Here are some of the most common ones:

We will discuss how often our physiotherapists will visit you at your first appointment. The frequency of therapy sessions depends on your diagnosis, the severity of your symptoms and your personal goals. Together we will develop a customised treatment plan for you so that you can achieve the best results.

If you are unable to attend your treatment at home, we would ask you to inform us as soon as possible. This gives us the opportunity to respond flexibly to your needs and offer you an alternative appointment as soon as possible.

Yes, it is possible to switch between the two forms of treatment, depending on your individual situation and the specific requirements of your treatment. Our therapists are available to help you decide when it makes sense for you to switch from in-home to practice appointments or vice versa. Your comfort and optimal care are our top priorities, and we are committed to providing you with the best possible treatment that adapts to your specific circumstances.

Most physiotherapy treatments, such as lymph drainage or manual therapy, can be carried out at home without any problems. However, there are applications that require special therapy equipment that is only available at our practices. For this reason, open communication with your therapist in advance is important to ensure together that your physiotherapy treatment is both effective and comfortable and that both your personal preferences and therapeutic requirements are taken into account.

In principle, you can expect to pay around CHF 100 – 140 for a 25-minute domiciliary treatment. Depending on the case, if the therapy has been prescribed by a doctor (physiotherapy prescription for domiciliary treatment), your health insurance will cover some or all of the costs for you.
